What Lucira is

Lucira is a decision-support tool for registered medical practitioners. It produces an AI (artificial intelligence) generated interpretation of a small number of de-identified medical images. It has not been licensed by CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation) or cleared by any regulator, and must not be used as the sole basis for any clinical decision. Before images or PDFs leave your device, Lucira automatically covers text that looks like a patient's name, ID number, date of birth, phone number or address; you can cover more areas yourself.

Who may use it

Accounts are by invitation only, for qualified medical practitioners who declare at sign-up that they hold current registration or a licence to practise in their country. You remain fully responsible for every clinical decision and must confirm findings on the complete study.

Your account

We store your name, speciality, city, country, username (mobile number or email) and a securely hashed password. This is used to sign you in, show you your own cases, and let the Lucira administrator review use of the service. When you accept the declarations and Terms of Use, we record the version, date, time, network address and device type as evidence of acceptance.

Students (Lucira Learn)

To confirm that a student account belongs to a real medical or dental student, intern or postgraduate aspirant, we collect the college, course, enrolment number, and for interns and aspirants the council registration number. We also collect a photo of an identity document (college ID card, internship letter, degree or registration certificate) and a selfie of the student holding that document. Both images are encrypted, are seen only by the Lucira administrator for verification, and are deleted 30 days after the account is verified or rejected. We keep a fingerprint (hash) of each image to detect the same document being used for more than one account.

Students outside India. Lucira Learn is open to medical and dental students in any country. If you sign up from outside India, your account details and verification documents are transferred to and stored on Lucira's servers (currently in the United States) and handled under this policy and Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Your verification documents are used only to confirm you are a real student or graduate and are deleted 30 days after the decision. Lucira Learn is for education only and never handles patient data. If the law of your country gives you further rights over your data, contact us and we will help you exercise them.

To prevent account sharing we record which devices and networks an account is used from. A student account can be signed in on one device at a time; signing in elsewhere signs out the other device. Repeated sign-outs from different devices are reviewed by the administrator and may lead to suspension.
